Haida Nation

My family is of the Haida Nation and comes from the Raven/Bear clan. For many generations my family has come from the Southern part of Prince of Whales Island in Southeastern Alaska.  Haida's from this region are known as the "Kaigani Haida". The Haida people can be found primarily in British Columbia, Canada, as well as Southeastern Alaska.

 

Interesting fun facts:

 

• My great Aunt Marguerite was the first woman and first woman of Haida descent to fly an airplane solo in Alaska. 

• Helen Todd Lake on Annette Island in Southeastern Alaska was named after my grandmother Helen Todd by the Tshimshian.
